Jaguar Rescue Center

What a great place. Recommend the public tour. We did the 9.30am tour which was busy enough, but by the time we left just before the second tour was to begin (11.30am), the place was jam packed. The tour was informative, helpful, and not exploitative. The centre is about raising money to allow them to rescue and rehabilitate injured wildlife....so its not a zoo, and you shouldnt expect that to be the case. There is however a lot to see, and our guide (English) was Max from Colorado (Special Shout out to Max - he is very funny, and has some cracking stories). Our two daughters - 11 and 13 thought it was a highlight of their trip to Costa Rica...which is not small measure. If you are in that part of Costa Rica make sure you visit, go on a tour, but some merchandise and support this fantastic facility.

The work that these people are doing around animals that need help is outstanding and deserves appreciation. I’m so impressed how much they care about them, it’s clear they want the best for them. It’s so worth it to go and meet animals, appreciate them from the distance and also if possible leave some donation so that this place can continue helping thousands of animals. Thank you for all you’re doing! Our guide Ange was so much fun, her way of explaining history of many animals as well as teaching us interesting facts about them was just excellent. She’s such a pure and friendly person. Other guides and volunteers also seemed very genuine and friendly. I would love to come back again and maybe volunteer myself one day.

Absolutely amazing! Our guide Lizzy was super motivated and told us all the personal stories about the animals. We got to see so many up close, especially the sloths were adooorable! It is like a disabled animals zoo, where they don't cage the animals but actually keep them safe and alive, such fascinating stories! Plus their gift shop is cheap and helps them to keep the whole thing going, we did all our touristy shopping there, amazing!

I did the 1,5 hrs tour in German and that was really cool. Our guide Marco was funny and told us the stories of the Jaguar Rescue Center and the rescued animals. The cutest award goes to the brownie sloth eating the flower. The tour gave me a new perspective about Costa Rica. This place is donation-funded, and they are doing some cool projects. They are aiming to send back the rescued animals to the wild as much as possible, so visiting this place is a real support for the animals.

one of the highlights of my visit here. i sincerely wish i could visit again, just walk around and watch the animals without the tour once more 🥲 Thanks to Ale for giving us a really nice tour. The website says no booking is needed but it’s absolutely needed- i would advise anyone to book a week early. Fun fact is there’s no actual jaguar in there (not even a single one) but some really cool stories from other animals, sloths, birds, monkeys etc.
